Most consumer AI products optimize for time spent. They feel helpful while quietly making the underlying problem worse. You will be building the alternative.

THE PROBLEM

A category with a trust problem

Better Half's system can detect when someone needs pushback, reality-checking, or support through conflict repair. Your job is creating the experience layer that turns that capability into something people actually want to use, not because it flatters them, but because it genuinely makes them better.

You are building in a category where most products have either burned users with dependency loops or driven thoughtful people away entirely. Your product has to earn belief from both.

WHAT YOU WILL BUILD

The experience layer.

Product strategy and roadmap

For consumer launch and growth, built around real-world outcomes rather than retention metrics.

Engagement design

Progress systems that reflect real skill development. Relational practice that feels genuinely rewarding, not gamified for its own sake.

The connection layer

Features that move users from simulation toward real-world human connection. The eventual goal of everything we build.

Onboarding flows

That communicate honestly what this product is and is not, without losing people in the first two minutes.

User research loops

Feedback systems that inform both the product direction and the AI training beneath it. The closer you are to users, the better the system gets.

Go-to-market strategy

For a category that does not yet exist in the way we are defining it. You will need to create the map, not just follow one.

WHAT YOU WILL BUILD

Required and valuable

REQUIRED

  • Shipped consumer products that reached scale (100K+ users)

  • Deep product intuition: why people use things and why they stop

  • Experience with social, health, or behavior-change products

  • Technical fluency to collaborate closely with AI engineers

  • Hands-on experience with prompt engineering and LLM behavior

  • User research and data-driven iteration

  • Comfort with 0-to-1 product development

  • Experience designing for emotional or high-stakes contexts

ALSO VALUABLE

  • Background in mental health, coaching, or relational work

  • Experience with games or learning systems

  • Community building and user-generated networks

  • Previous founding team experience

  • Experience repositioning away from toxic category associations

  • Familiarity with conversational AI and dialogue design
